Built for the Future of Cle Elum

Upcoming Event:

Public Town hall (Water Access at Ederra) On March 7th

Thanks to the Cle Elum community for attending the Feb. 8 Town Hall at Dru Bru. We were thrilled to meet with so many residents and businessowners who are passionate about this area. As promised, we have compiled a comprehensive FAQ based on everyone’s input. And we also invite everyone to attend our next Town Hall event, on March 7, focused on Water at Ederra.

City Heights was developed in collaboration with the community to address the needs and goals of residents, business owners, recreational users, the City of Cle Elum, service providers and Tribes, among others. This dynamic project will provide significant community public amenities and improvements while creating sustainable economic growth to Cle Elum and its residents. Better yet, City Heights is being developed by a long-time local Cle Elum business who holds the community’s values near and dear to their hearts. City Heights’ number one priority is enhancing the Cle Elum way of life.

City Heights is being created for the entire Cle Elum community, and we invite you to be part of this once-in-a-generation project. We also invite you to join our City Heights Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee, a community-based, volunteer organization working collaboratively with City Heights development team on planning and executing all public-access amenities at the property -- including Coal Trax Bike Park, the Outfitter Building, the surrounding public hiking and biking trail system, and much more. Send us your contact information below and we’ll add you to our invitation list for upcoming Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee meetings at Dru Bru!

Development

Construction at City Heights will be carefully phased over the next decade — beginning now, through 2036 — based on market demand. It’s part of the City of Cle Elum’s approval of a Development Agreement nearly 10 years ago, and its recent acceptance of the first application to implement the approved Master Site Plan at the property.

When complete, City Heights will include up to 962 residential units including diverse and creative neighborhoods with home products ranging from apartments, townhomes, cottages, duplexes, and detached single family homes, large and small. The development will also include at least 3 parks and various other outdoor-amenity spaces open to the public. A modest amount of neighborhood commercial buildings will be built, planned to serve the greater Cle Elum community and residents, but will not compete with the downtown core, which is so vital to our mutual success.

Thoughtfully Planned with
Cle Elum’s Future in Mind

City Heights supports all of Cle Elum’s planned growth goals. In fact, the project has been part of Cle Elum’s Urban Growth Area since it was first conceived more than a decade ago. Its master plan, developed in partnership with the City, is poised to drive sustainable, long-term economic growth for Cle Elum, while allowing a slower evolution that steadily integrates the new development into the town.

City Heights will bring new jobs and critical tax revenue to support a wide range of services throughout the community.  Better yet, new City Heights residents, along with visitors to the development, will help lift sales for existing Main Street businesses. In addition, City Heights is investing more than $2 million for improvements to the city’s water, sewer, roads, schools, first responders and other critical infrastructure.

But the City Heights project is more than just new homes and upgrades to local infrastructure. Approximately 30% of the site — some 125+ acres in total — has been dedicated to public-access open space. In fact, City Heights has already started major improvements on the Coal Trax Mountain Bike Park, part of a comprehensive effort to transform this thoughtfully planned, highly sustainable community into an outdoor wonderland.

What to Plan On

The City Heights project went through an extensive public process and environmental review years ago, obtaining approval in 2011. The approval incorporated public hearings and open houses, input from the public, police, fire, school, public utility providers, City service providers, Planning Commission, City Council, Mayor, Tribes and other stakeholders. We continue to speak with the public on a daily basis.

This includes our Town Halls, informal, one-on-one meetings that we’re coordinating with Cle Elum friends and neighbors to listen to what you have to say about our City Heights development plan — and to answer any questions you might have. We’re always open to input from local stakeholders and encourage you to submit your questions and contact information at the bottom of this page, or to arrange a one-on-one meeting with the City Heights developer. Making Strides in Our Community

City Heights celebrates Cle Elum’s unique spirit, identity and way of life. This well-conceived mixed-use development embraces Cle Elum’s love of nature, as the entire project is designed to connect residents, locals and visitors to outdoor adventure. With new public-access parks and a link to the Teanaway Trail – something this community has dreamed of for decades – discovering our natural environment will be easier than ever before. What’s more, City Heights will bring much-needed economic development to the area with thousands of new direct and indirect jobs created through its construction. And City Heights’ developer is doing it the right way, as a good business neighbor and thoughtful community steward. Everything City Heights stands for centers around the preservation of Cle Elum’s values and lifestyle for generations to come. Learn More
